Southern Plumbing of Ocala has separate departments for estimating (bids), project management/scheduling, purchasing service and warranty work to ensure fast service and accuracy.
HISTORY
1986
On January 1, 1986, Bob Redd and Frank Grant were approached by developers of Oak Run who asked them to assume a plumbing contract which was left unfinished by another firm. Six workers were challenged to come on board “Southern Plumbing” to meet the opportunity: Richard Klama, Chuck Loomis, Stan Smith, Norman Stapleton, Tim Szeliga, and Jim Thompson.
1990
In 1990, Southern Plumbing began actively bidding on light-duty commercial projects.
1992
In 1992, Southern expanded into a 750 sq. ft. warehouse on NE 25th Street and began pursuing larger commercial projects such as, shopping centers, food stores, medical facilities, retail shops and schools.
1995
By 1995, an increased number of contracts required Frank to come out of the field to take over job scheduling. This permitted Bob to focus solely on estimating.
1995 – 1999
From 1995 to 1999, Southern Plumbing developed a service department, increased office/warehouse space from 750 to 1500 sq. ft., and built relationships with reputable contractors like, Edwards Construction Services Inc., Scudder & Company, Counts Construction, Cullison-Wright, and Commercial Structures.
1999
In 1999, Southern Plumbing moved into a newly constructed facility of their own which is a 4000 sq. ft. building on a one and a half acre lot just off Ocala’s main highway 441, close to Interstate 75.
2000 – 2008
From 2000 to 2008, Southern Plumbing of Ocala has concentrated on developing strong relationships with quality contractors while upgrading to new trucks and equipment, including Nextel Communications for immediate supervisory contact.
2008 – 2016
From 2008 to 2016, Southern Plumbing, in response to the recession and guarantying sound services to our clients, began paying down long term debt. As of 2011, our business and building are debt free. Southern Plumbing’s human resources department has worked to provide needed employee benefits such as vacation time, health and dental insurance.
2016 – Present
Southern Plumbing replaced their fleet of vehicles to continue guaranteed prompt service.
